Comments : Good to see your site. I was a cpl with 10 Field Squadron (Airfields) RE and served in Aden from 65 to 67. Interesting to see the old locations and happy sappers in the sun. I am from Falmouth, Cornwall originally and after a lot of travelling have settled in Düsseldorf, Germany. Didn´t have any dealing with 39 Sqn as I was posted back to 1 Trg Regt at Cove in January 67. I think you might have taken over some of our equipment. Good luck 39ers! UBIQUE

Comments : I'm pretty sure I spent some time with 39 in Aden (Al Mila)? I also did some time in Aden with 10 Airfield Squadron RE this is what confuses me. Could someone confirm to refresh my memory. As far as I remember I was in 37 Field Squadron in Osnabruck and was transfered to 39 for the Aden posting. We were shipped out to Trucial Oman States, Sharjah, when the evacuation of Aden started. Would this be '67 or even earlier? I was demobbed in '68. I've come full circle, I retired a few year ago and was so bored I went back to work with my old company and am at present in Abu Dhabi, same area as my last posting in the RE's. Good luck with the site. I seem to recognise one guy in the picture, 1st left in the 4th row, is that Pete Reed???
Cheers George

Comments : Just stumbled across your site while surfing through Aden Veterens.I did a tour in Aden(Al Milah) with 73 Sqn leaving in March 1966.I am trying to contact then Sgt Ian Scott,he was awarded a gallantry medal for the action in the( I think) Wadi Matlah. The photos brought back memories,we had an incident with what was probably the same D4,but fortunately not with the same tragic result. Well done with the site.

Comments : part of an advance guard as a 20 yr old from osnabruck to aden for 3 troop in 67.
Then convoyed up country to Radfan with the sqn.

Often wondered where the rest of the boys ended up as I went straight into survey training at military college Chatham when we got back. I demobbed late 68 before the squadron went to Ireland.

After 40 yrs the memory fades but rememer the corp, scouse and lance corp from the Black Watch, Sgt Scott, paddy and "Ginge" Panter.

Comments : Hi Guys,

A lot of water under the bridge since we were all together. Those were the days! Brummie Wilson do you remember when we drove home from Osnatraz in your Fiat 650 sewing machine with only 3 gears! With me holding a snooker cue out of the window cause it wouldn't fit in the car!! Fantastic. I have started attending the RE footballers get together at Chatham on cup final day and its great, haven't bumped into anyone from 39 yet though.

Have been having a battle with the big C recently but am turning the corner and would love to hear from those who remember me.

Well done with the site Mac. Keep it up.

Regards to all "Brummie"

I worked as details clerk,POL and servicing the trucks.
I was good friends with Cpl David 'Rocky' Price. we were next door neighbours back in Osnabruck. I understand he was buried in Silent Valley. His death affects me still, even after all this time. I haven't got any photos of Aden or upcountry, would love to see some.
